The short version: We collect almost nothing. The information you enter into the entitlements tool is processed entirely in your browser and is never sent to our servers, stored in a database, or shared with anyone. We may use basic analytics to understand how people use the site. That's it.

FamilyEntitled is an independent website providing a free entitlements calculation tool for UK families. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by HM Government or any government department.

2. What information we collect

Information you enter into the tool

The entitlements calculator asks you questions about your family situation — children's dates of birth, income bands, working status, and benefit status. This information is:

Processed entirely within your web browser using JavaScript
Never transmitted to our servers
Never stored in any database
Never shared with any third party
Permanently erased when you close or refresh the page

We have designed the tool this way deliberately. We do not want your personal financial information, and we have no mechanism to receive or store it even if we did.

Analytics data

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics service (such as Plausible Analytics or a self-hosted alternative) to understand broad usage patterns — for example, how many people use the tool, which pages are most visited, and what country visitors are from. This data is:

Aggregated and anonymous — we cannot identify individual visitors
Not linked to any information you enter into the tool
Does not use cookies or cross-site tracking

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party cookies. If we use analytics, it is configured to work without cookies. We may use a single session cookie for basic website functionality (such as remembering your progress through the tool within a session), which is erased when you close your browser.

Your children's names or exact dates of birth (these are used only within your browser for age calculations and immediately discarded)

5. Third-party links

Our tool provides links to GOV.UK and other official government websites. Once you leave our site, this privacy policy no longer applies. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any sites you visit.

Our tool is intended for use by adults (parents and guardians). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The dates of birth you enter for your children are processed only within your browser and are never transmitted or stored.
